New York to Vegas

After a big New Year's our last two days in New York were pretty quiet. By the time we sorted ourselves out on New Year's Day it was after 1pm so we headed over to Times Square for a bit of shopping and a late lunch. That night we wandered back up to Central Park to Wollman Rink to attempt some ice skating but it was too busy to get on the rink so we gave it a miss. The next morning Bel, Wade and Scott got up early to beat the crowd and went ice skating in Bryant Park (which was just off 42nd Street). After that we took the subway down to Madison Square Garden to have a look around, had a quick wander through Macys, grabbed some lunch and then took the subway back uptown to check out the Serendipity cafe (which had over a two hour wait for a table)! By this stage it was pretty much time to head to the airport for our long flight to Vegas.

By the time we checked into our hotel (Planet Hollywood) in Vegas it was almost midnight (which was really 3am for us NY time). Our rooms here have an awesome view, looking out over the Bellagio Fountain, which does a water show every 15 mins to 30 mins (depending on the time of day).

We thought by the time we got to Vegas it would have warmed up a bit, but so far it has been pretty much just as cold here as it was in New York. This morning it actually snowed (very lightly and not for very long but snow all the same). Today we spent the day walking the stip and checking out a bunch of the hotels and Casinos. Our first stop was New York New York which was basically everything we had just seen but in a compact space! We then headed down the strip and checked out Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay, and back up the other side of the strip to see Tropicana, MGM Grand and then wandered through the shops on the way back to our hotel. Tonight we hit the Bellagio Buffet for dinner which pretty much has every food you could think of on it and one of the biggest desert selections you have ever seen. After dinner we checked out Caesars Palace before heading back to the hotel and rolling into bed!
