12th May - Orlando (Disney World)

Today we checked out of our hotel Universal to move to our Disney World Hotel.  Before this though, we ended up back at the outlets, so Wade could buy his Oakleys (that we looked at about 10 times before he bought them)!  We had an early lunch at Taco Bell (interesting) and then headed over to Disney World.

We are staying at the Port Orleans Riverside resort again, and have ended up with a pretty good room, in a good location.  The rooms have all been refurbished since we were last here and in true Disney style are themed very well (or very cheesy whichever way you want to look at it)!!  We have pictures behind the beds that have lights in them and when you press a button on the side, fireworks go off within the picture :-)

We went for a quick wander around the resort before heading over to Epcot for a few hours.  Throughout Spring they have a flower and garden festival, so there are flowers everywhere and most of the gardens have different characters built into them.  Two of the cool ones we saw today were the Cars & Monsters University displays.  EPCOT has two sections to it - Future World and World Showcase. We started in Future World where we went on Spaceship Earth.  It is Mother's Day in the US today as well, so the parks were pretty busy.  We have plenty of time here so decided to skip the rides with longer waits and will come back during the week when it is a bit quieter.  Instead we spent the next few hours wandering through the World Showcase area and checking out all the different country displays.  It was an absolute scorcher today and my pasty white skin was not coping well (even smothered in sunscreen)!  I spent the whole time chasing the shade around while Wade took all the photos :-)  We left about 4.30 and headed back to the hotel for a bit of a rest, before having dinner and heading across the Magic Kingdom (the main/original park).  The park was open until 1.00am so we still had plenty of time to do a few things here.

We arrived just as the fireworks were starting so it meant the rides were all pretty quiet, so we got quite a bit done in the few hours we were there.  We went on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Dumbo, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin, Peter Pan's Flight and Under the Sea.  We did a heap of the kids rides tonight, because if we go back during the day Fantasyland will be crazy and full of kids.  We got home about 12.30am so it was a big day today :-)
