14th May - Orlando (Disney World)

Today we went to Animal Kingdom - there aren't a whole lot of "thrill" rides at this park (which was a nice break from the past few days), it is more about the animals - which is why I love this park!

Our first stop for the day was into Asia for Expedition Everest - basically the only roller coaster in the park!! We basically walked straight onto this and when we finished, there was still no wait, so we went straight back on (of course)!!  Now that Wade had his roller coaster fix, we wandered through the park and across the other side to Africa (my favourite part)!  The highlight of Africa is the Kilimanjaro Safari.  Here, they have re-created the African savannah and in trucks that hold about 25-30 people you are driven through the park, where you encounter all sorts of animals, including Lions, Giraffes, Antelope, Warthogs, Elephants, Hippos, Rhinos, Crocodiles and much more!!  There was a bit of a wait on this, and I wanted to do it twice (because no two safaris are the same!) so before we went on, we grabbed a Fast Pass, so we could come back without having to wait.  We got really lucky the first time, and saw alot of animals up close (including a giraffe which walked across the road in front of our truck). After we got off the first safari, we grabbed an early lunch, and then it was then time to go back on the second time.  A few of the animals had gone into hiding the second time around (the Lions and Elephants), but it was still a great experience.  Once we got off this, we walked along the connected exploration trail, and saw some gorillas, african cichlids, and other birds!

Before leaving we wandered around the park a bit more and took some photos.  Then it was off to Florida Mall for some retail therapy!  This was a pretty big mall, and I left with a few more bags than I came with!!
